BNSF has donated locomotive #1205 to the Oklahoma Railway Museum (ORM) in Oklahoma City. The locomotive was originally built in 1957 as a conventional GP9 for the Canadian Pacific. It was originally re-built into a GG20B “Green Goat” battery-hybrid locomotive by Railpower Inc. for CP in 2006, but was never delivered and never used in this configuration. The locomotive was then sold to BNSF a year later and converted to be a hydrogen test locomotive.
According to trainmaster Greg Hall at the ORM, the museum will use the locomotive as a shoving platform for their excursion trains. The hydrogen components were removed from the locomotive at the completion of its testing, but the body and frame of the locomotive is intact. The museum intends to use the locomotive to represent its hydrogen testing history.
