Everett Railroad gains five passenger cars from Altoona Juniata Shops

The Everett Railroad in Hollidaysburg, PA has acquired 5 passenger cars from the nearby Altoona Juniata shops in Altoona PA. These shops are operated by Norfolk Southern. The cars are NS 25, NS 37, “The Dunn Wagon”, and two former Ringling Circus cars that hauled elephants. All of the cars have had their interiors gutted and are out of service.

This acquisition follows another one in May; a 1925 Lehigh & New England office car. The car was previously at a restaurant in Strafford, Pa., where it was heavily modified. The interior has been stripped and access doors have been cut into the sides. The Everett intends to restores this car for use in first-class service.

The Everett Railroad is a 22 mile shortline in south-west Pennsylvania. Freight and excursions are pulled by vintage diesel locomotives, however their 2-6-0 steam locomotive #11 is often used for excursions and special events.
