Niagara Railway Museum now home to two Yugoslavian steam locomotives

On July 4th, 2023 the Niagara Railway Museum (NRM) received two 0-6-0 tank engines, formerly from Marineland. The two locomotives became available after the planned railroad at the Marineland theme park was never built and the property was sold, after having been moved there in 1981.

Nos. 62.118 & 62.129 were originally built in 1955 and 1958 by Duro Dakovic Locomotive Technica for the Jugoslavia Railway as the Jugoslovenske Železnice Class 62. Several other similar locomotives of this class exist in Britain and the US, and they are differences between the two saved by NRM.

Some light cleaning and repairs are needed, but the locomotives will be on display for the museum’s upcoming Open Weekend on July 8 & 9th. Visitors will be able to view both locomotives, hear some word from the organization’s president, can be able to tour one of the locomotive’s cab.
