Coopersville and Marne Railway receives donation of GE center-cab switcher

The Friends of the Coopersville and Marne Railway announced that they have been donated a 1979 125 ton switcher built by General Electric. The donation comes from the J. H. Campbell power plant, which was using it to move coal hoppers around their facility. The facility plans to shut down the coal plant by 2025, and was looking to dispose of excess equipment.

The friends of the Coopersville and Marne Railway operate excursions over 7 miles of track between the two namesake towns in Western Michigan. The locomotive will join their existing roster as an operating locomotive and will assist in pull special Easter, pumpkin, and Santa trains.
